What engines are available?
The Dodge Challenger starts off its powerful engine lineup with a 3.6-liter that makes 303 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque that matches to a smooth sailing eight-speed automatic transmission. When you go with the R/T trim, you get the first in the series of V8’s. In this case, it’s a 5.7-liter V8 that rips out 372 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, which comes with either the eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. More power can be had with the R/T Scat Pack as it comes with 485 horsepower, which would make it the king of the hill if it weren’t for the 717 horsepower 6.2-liter V8 for the SRT Hellcat. The horsepower can be upped to 797 horsepower with the Hellcat Redeye. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but the SXT and the GT have the option for four-wheel-drive. No matter what engine you choose, you will be promised a high-speed ride!
What are the notable features for the Challenger?
Five trim levels are available for the Challenger, and there are some wonderful features to be had with each. Starting things off is the SXT, which comes with keyless entry and ignition, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a Uconnect system with a 7-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capability. Next up is the GT, which dresses things up a tad with upgraded interior trim, remote start, and rear parking sensors. At the midway point is the R/T Scat Pack, which adds a standard 8.4-inch touchscreen, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and performance software upgrades. The SRT Hellcat adds to the mix with larger brakes, exterior styling changes, and an adaptive suspension. All versions of the Challenger come with a ton of options, including graphics packages, hood scoops, leather seats, audio upgrades, and driver aids. You also get the option of a WIdebody package which has wider fenders to accommodate wider wheels and tires. The package is available for the R/T Scat Pack and Hellcat trims.
What are some of the safety features?
Dodge makes sure that you are always safe when you are on the road, which is why each trim comes with a large number of safety features. Available is a Blind-Spot Monitoring System, which helps you make safer lane changes by alerting you when another vehicle enters one of your blind spot areas. Also available is Adaptive Cruise Control, which enables you to maintain a safe distance between you and the cars ahead. Finally, the Automatic High-Beam Headlights switch from low to high beam when they detect the lights from oncoming traffic.
