2022 Ram 1500 vs Ford F-150

Ram and Ford have been going back and forth forever on which automaker has the superior vehicle. Two vehicles that continue to dominate that conversation are the Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150. Both of these vehicles come with spectacular engine options and superior towing and hauling capability, but did you know that the interiors of both of these pickups are some of the most luxurious and technologically advanced on the market? While we think that either one of these trucks would make a tremendous addition to your driveway, there is one that has an advantage over the other. To find out which ones comes out on top, continue reading down below!

2022 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

There are several engines available for the Ram 1500, and each one of them is extremely powerful. The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that doles out a solid 306 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Coming standard with this engine is an eTorque system which helps improve the fuel economy and the engine’s stop/start capability. If you want a little more power, the Ram 1500 has the option of a 5.7-liter V8 that pumps out a spectacular 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque which you can get with or without the eTorque. Does the Ram have a diesel engine? You bet it does! It’s a diesel-powered and turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that gets you 260 horsepower and a spectacular 480 lb-ft of torque. The last available engine is on the epic TRX trim, which has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that pounds the pavement with 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. These engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission which gets you a smooth ride no matter where you travel. Four-wheel-drive is available on every trim!

2022 Ford F-150 Power & Handling

On the Ford F-150, a few engine options try to counter what the Ram 1500 offers. The vast majority of trims will come with a 3.3-liter V6 which delivers a decent 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. After this, several options are available, with the first being a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that pumps out 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Another option is the 5.0-liter V8 that has 400 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque or a 3.5-liter V6 that also has 400 horsepower. Like the Ram, the Ford F-150 also has a diesel engine option which gets you up to 250 horsepower. These engines come standard with an automatic transmission and either rear or four-wheel-drive. There is a lot to like about these engines, but the Ram 1500 is more powerful!

Not only is the Ram 1500 one of the most powerful trucks on the market, but it’s also one of the best equipped. On the base Tradesman, you get robust features such as 18-inch steel wheels, a 5-inch touchscreen, air conditioning, and trailer sway damping. Most trucks have one luxury trim, but the Ram 1500 has three known as the Laramie, Limited, or Longhorn. Standard on these trims are things like a standard 8.4-inch touchscreen, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, forward collision mitigation, heated rear seats, front and rear parking sensors, optional 12-inch touchscreen, four-corner air suspension, premium-leather bucket seats blind-spot monitoring.

The Lariat is next, and it adds to this with LED bed lighting, a 12-inch center touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, and remote start. If you want more luxury, then you’ll need to go with one of the higher trims, such as the King Ranch, which has features like LED headlights and taillights, a heated steering wheel, an eight-speaker stereo system, and wireless smartphone charging. The Limited rounds things out with features such as a Trailer Tow Package, Pro Power Onboard, 18-speaker B&O stereo, messaging front seats, and specialized leather upholstery.
